Our Experience: The Senior Staff
Laura Blakemore, M.D., President of Manuscript M.D., directs our scientific and medical writing and editing services. Dr. Blakemore's diverse background in clinical medicine, scientific research, and biomedical communications makes her ideally suited for this type of work.
- Clinical experience
After receiving her M.D. from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1990, Dr. Blakemore completed an internship in Family Practice. This clinical experience familiarized her with the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions.
- Research background
Dr. Blakemore's broad research background includes work in neurobiology, physiology, and psychology laboratories at Yale University School of Medicine, Oregon Health Sciences University, the University of Oregon, and Florida State University. She is a co-author of journal articles, abstracts, and grants related to this neuroscience research and holds a faculty appointment at Florida State University.
- Scientific and medical editing experience
Dr. Blakemore has spent most of the past 15 years working as a medical editor and medical writer. This includes stints as the Director of Editing at a medical manuscript rewriting service employing Yale physicians and Research Editor for The Journal of the Florida Medical Association.
During this time, Dr. Blakemore has assisted hundreds of U.S. and foreign scientists and physicians in publishing their articles in biomedical journals that span a wide range of topics (see Journals & Topics). Individually, she has edited more than 1500 journal articles and supervised the revision of thousands more. - Pharmaceutical writing and consulting experience
As medical director of a Atlanta-based medical communications company, Dr. Blakemore supervised freelance medical writers and reviewed the writing, content, and medical accuracy of print-based materials, multi-media scripts, and web pages.
She has continued working for the pharmaceutical industry on a freelance basis, authoring monographs, scripts, proposals, and white papers. Pharmaceutical Services describes the pharmaceutical writing and consulting services offered by Manuscript M.D.
Dr. Paul Trombley, Vice President of Manuscript M.D., oversees business and computer operations. Dr. Trombley is a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida State University. He teaches medical physiology to medical students and biology and neuroscience to graduate and undergraduate students.
Dr. Trombley has a long track record in biomedical research and computer operations. He is a reviewer for a number of granting agencies and many international peer-reviewed biomedical journals.
